Trinidad

Trinidad is the larger of the two islands that make up Trinidad and Tobago and home to the capital, Port of Spain. It is a busy, cosmopolitan island where business trips, family visits and the annual Carnival season bring people back year after year.

Beyond the city, the Northern Range runs along the top of the island, with winding roads that drop down to north-coast bays such as Maracas.

Where to stay in Trinidad

Port of Spain and Woodbrook
Close to the Queen's Park Savannah and the restaurants of Ariapita Avenue — practical for short city stays and Carnival visits.
St. Clair and Maraval
Leafy residential districts on the city's northern edge, a short drive from downtown and from the road over the hills to the north coast.
Chaguaramas
A peninsula west of the capital known for its marinas and boatyards, popular with sailors and anyone who wants water views near town.
The north coast
Bays such as Maracas and Las Cuevas sit on the far side of the Northern Range — better suited to beach days than to city life.
